About Gyengju
Gyeongju is a city of history, culture and sightseeing which attracts a lot of tourists from home and abroad and there are abundant treasures throughout the city.
Mt. Namsan, Wolseong, Daereungwon and Hwangnyongsa as well as Seokgulam and Bulguksa are designated as the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.

Geographical features/ climate
Gyeongju is located at the lower end of the Taebaek Mountains, which lie between the Dongdae mountain chain in the east and the Danseok mountain chain in the west.
In between the two chains, the Hyeongsan River flows eastward, towards the city of Pohang across open plains. Mostly, as we go inland from the east coast, the land rises steeply and the rivers are not of great length. The Dongcheon river flows through Oedong to the south, branching off from the Taehwa river, which flows into the Bay of Ulsan. In the mountain area to the west of the Danseok chain, the mountains are densely packed, each peak rising from the lower slopes of another. Through this area flows the Dongchang river, a branch of the Nakdong river.
The climate of the western area has marked variations of heat and cold. But the climate of eastern area is fairly warm because it is influenced by the Dongdae mountain chain and the east coast.
The average year-round temperature is 12.2 degrees, and precipitation is 1,091 mm. During the past few years, this place has had some rain shortages.
