1. Invasive and Non-invasive Body Sensor Networks

Body Sensor Networks allow the integration of autonomous, intelligent, low power, miniaturized, invasive and non-invasive wireless sensor nodes to monitor body status and the surrounding environment. BSNs play an important role in smart healthcare services, remote diagnostic and telemedicine, interactive and real time applications. The inclusion of wireless sensor nodes within the body requires many more constraints to be met for safe and reliable operations. There are number of enormous issues and challenges that need to be resolved in order to develop proactive, flexible, secure, power-efficient, and ambulatory BSNs.

This special issue invites high quality unpublished research papers and review articles that disseminate the state-of-the-art research and development on BSNs for medical and non-medical applications, articulate new perspectives, and highlight open issues and challenges. Topics of interest include, but not limited to:

1- Invasive and Non-invasive architectures

2- Interactive and real time BSNs

3- Pervasive health monitoring

4- Medical and Non-medical applications

5- Low Power MAC protocol Design

6- Antenna Design

7- In-body and on-body channel models

8- Telemedicine

9- Security and privacy

10- QoS provisioning

11- Wireless Implantable devices

2. Security of Wireless Broadband Networks

Wireless broadband networks offer organizations and users many benefits such as portability and flexibility, increased productivity, and lower installation costs. Most popular wireless broadband networks are

  • IEEE 802.11 WLAN/ Wi-Fi
  • IEEE 802.16 WMAN/ WiMax
  • IEEE 802.11 Wireless Mesh Networks

There are many characteristics such as open wireless medium, emergence of advanced services, roaming and mobility, limited resource constraints and dynamic network topology, which has created challenging issues in the security of wireless broadband networks. The objective of the special issue is to seek for the development of new techniques, models and theories that help for a better protection of the wireless broadband networks.

Scope of Special Issue

With this special issue, we aim to provide a reference issue covering the latest advances in the wireless broadband network. This special issue provides a chance for academia and industry to present latest research on all aspects of wireless broadband networks security. The special issue will consider original research, review, and survey, which are original, completed and unpublished work not currently under review by any other journal/magazine/conference.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

·         Denial-of-Service attacks and defences.

·         Large scale attacks and countermeasures.

·         Intrusion detection systems

·         Network forensics

·         Security architectures

·         Access control and trust management

·         Identity management and authentication

·         Key management

·         Performance and security trade offs

·         Novel attacks and exploits

·         Intrusion prevention systems

Submission

Authors are asked to submit their papers (Preferably MS WORD /PDF) for this issue, through email to Shafiullah.khan@brunel.ac.uk OR Jonathan.loo@brunel.ac.uk , OR rashidkh08@yahoo.com, with the subject indicating "Submission to JDCTA Special issue". Authors are asked to note that the paper must contain abstract of 100 to 150 words to express the significance and contribution of your paper. All submitted papers will be subject to the standard journal referring process and evaluated on originality, relevance, significance, and readability.

Special Issue on: "Advances and Challenges in Software Testing"

Software testing is the process of validation and verification of the software product. Effectively software testing will contribute to the delivery of reliable and quality oriented software product, more satisfied users, lower maintenance cost, and more accurate and reliable result. However, ineffective testing will lead to the opposite results, low quality products, unhappy users, increased maintenance costs, unreliable and inaccurate results. Hence, software testing is necessary and important activity of software development process. The importance of testing can be understood by the fact that “around 35% of the elapsed time and over 50% of the total cost are expending in testing programs”.

    Subject Coverage

Suggested topics that this special issue will endeavour to address include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Software testing
  • Object oriented software testing
  • Agent oriented software testing
  • Software testing effort
  • Software testing method
  • Regular expression
  • Use of artificial intelligence over software testing
