Special Issues
In this scenario, it becomes very useful to understand how consumers’ and products/stores knowledge has to be managed and digitally represented. Besides, it is important to understand how this knowledge will influence customers’ experience once converted in digital content. This special issue solicits papers that contribute to deeply understand the applications of new technologies in retailing and their impact on the design, development and modelling of consumers’ and products’ knowledge in order to improve consumers’ shopping experience and, as consequence, influence their buying behaviour. Submissions can focus on theoretical and applied research in topics including, but not limited to: The deadline for submitting manuscripts is January 15, 2010 and authors will be notified of the decision by April 15, 2010. The final manuscripts will be due June 30, 2010. Those interested in submitting a paper are invited to send it to vincenzo.corvello@unical.it AND eleonora.pantano@unical.it6. In recent years, many studies are focusing on the best practices which make stores more attractive and interesting for consumers. The use of advertising addressed to specific consumers is an important topic of research. Furthermore, a growing interest has been put on the ways producers’ and retailers’ knowledge is used to add value to customers’ experiences. The application of new technologies to the point of sales is a promising and relatively unexplored field of study, in particular when considering the introduction of digital content and technologies allowing consumers to interact with products in new ways. Many e-retailers already exploit the opportunities offered by interactive technologies, such as 3D virtual models, in order to enhance consumers shopping experience. Their use in stores, however, is still limited. The development and use of new shopping assistants for supporting and influencing consumers during their shopping experience plays a key
role for both retailers and researchers.
The existing shopping assistant systems are based on shopping trolleys and handled devices. In particular, most of them focus on mobile and ubiquitous computing. Adding digital content to these tools can be a powerful means to influence customers’ experience. The aim is to support consumers, through a user-friendly interface, by giving them information related to products, promotions, new arrivals and so on. The main characteristics are the interactivity and the multimodality, in order to
achieve an efficient, flexible and meaningful feeling of human-computer interaction.
- Content management for ubiquitous computing in retailing
- Consumer-computer interaction related to digital content
- New systems for consumers’ profiling
- New interfaces for consumers’ personalized communication
- Consumers’ input modelling
- Consumers’ knowledge representation
- Impact of new technologies on consumers’ behaviour in the retail context
- Segmentation and tracking of consumers’ buying behaviour
- Transfer of product knowledge to consumers
- Customized digital contents for supporting consumers’ decision making
Submissions should be of high standard for an international, archival research journal, and will be reviewed according to the strict standards of the International Journal of Digital Content: Technology and its Applications. Papers should not have been submitted or published elsewhere but could be extended or refined versions of conference papers with significant new, original material. Extended versions or refined versions o conference papers are expected to differ from the conference version by at least 30% across all sections . authors are requested to submit their published conference articles and a summary document explaining the enhancements made in the journal version. The manuscript preparation guidelines can be obtained from the International Journal of Digital Content: Technology and its Applications’ web page: http://www.aicit.org/jdcta.
7. 1st International Workshop on SOFTWARE SECURITY PROCESS
http://www.rcost.unisannio.it/sspw09/
Description
There is the growing need for software security processes, which are interleaved with the software development processes and aim at ensuring a certain degree of security in the software under development or maintenance. This calls for methods and techniques for: modelling security, designing for security, coding secure code, testing for security, and measuring security.
The workshop aims at discussing proposals and contributions from academia and industry in order to consolidate guidelines, empirical evidence, and methodologies concerning the processes for evaluating, assessing, and managing software security into software development.
The long-term goal is to build a scientific community that tackles and promotes research about the process for
systematically introducing security into software under development.
The workshop contributes to bringing the Software Engineering perspective in the discussion about software security.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Security requirements management
- Cost model for software security
- Security Knowledge management
- Architecture and design for security
- Model driven security
- Security testing

In each growing stage of the individual Software Engineering paradigm, it is realized that each paradigm has its own influence in the software engineering field on the support of its proficiency. Particularly, each paradigm sands on its ability in providing manageable solution to the new problem domains. The degree of manageability is depends on the degree of quantification over the solutions, whereas the quantification consists of the process of measurement and control. Hence the process of the measurement is the key factor for quantification, control and management and from this point of view, it has been recognized that the role of software metrics plays a vital role in the field of software engineering. As new requirements arise, on the one hand, from the increasing complexity of modern software systems, and on the other hand, from dispense of todays information economies, the filed of software metrics must be enhanced along with the versatile developments in software engineering paradigms. However the field software metrics holds its prospective rank in the field of software engineering, more essentially, we still have inadequate knowledge on software metrics and its associated fields and how they can advance the related fields. In this perspective, this special issue is designed with the motivation of revealing the core and associated research directions and outcomes in software metrics discipline. The objectives of this special issue are to bring out the present developments in software metrics and the enhanced practices of researchers and practitioners to promote, advertise and share the knowledge related to the associated fields of software metrics.
This special issue is dedicated to cover a broad range of titles with all of them presenting original and innovative ideas on the Software Metrics discipline.

20. Special issue on DSAI2010
DSAI - Software Development for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) play a major role in our lives. However, ICT development which is indifferent to the concerns of social inclusion may raise barriers and increase the gap between the average user and those with special needs, instead of contributing to eliminating this gap and promoting equal rights and opportunities for all.
Senior citizens and others with special needs are often faced with multiple minor disabilities that prevent them from enjoying the benefits of technology and higher quality of life standards. According to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, technology design should take into account accessibility and usability features for the protection and promotion of the human rights of persons with disabilities, in all policies and programmes.
