Dr. Se-Yong Park CEO of Intelibs, US |
Dr. Maode Ma School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore |
Title : "Machine-to-Machine technology and market trend in US"
Se-Yong Park is a founder of Intelibs, Inc, a start-up company based in New York developing and servicing Intelligent In-Building wireless network solutions with 3G/4G Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and Pico/Femtocell products. Intelibs is a turnkey solution vendor serving Tier 1 US wireless carriers focused on the enterprise vertical market. As the turnkey solution provider, Intelibs provide Machine-to-Machine(M2M) device as part of 4G WLAN solution. M2M becomes a emergying application over 4G network as the M2M network traffic increases and expects to surpass the 3G network capacity. Intelibs recently signed the co-marketing agreement with Tier 1 US wireless carrier. Intelibs has been hosting industry M2M workshops since 2010.
Before he founded Intelibs, Inc, he was a Member of Technical Staff in AMPS/PCS Systems engineering department, Wireless Networks Group in Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies till 2008. He has contributed the evolution of IP based Radio Access Network. He received Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering in State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook and MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) from University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Abstract
Machine-to-Machine becomes an emerging market in the wireless communications. Started from the Utility vertical market based on narrowband applications such as RMI, remote alarm, M2M has been expanded to other consumer markets such as retails (e.g. vending machine).
M2M is not a device only market, but an ecosystem driven from infrastructure to the applications. It is also different from traditional OEM business since the wireless carrier creates variety of the business models such as retail with their own sales and wholesale depending upon the device partner's direct marketing.
M2M device technologies are evolving from 2G to 3G and now entering 4G market as the bandwidth demands grows. Our presentation would cover where the new technology demands are being created and how the R&D community overrides the opportunity with the right development strategy.
Selection of the technologies also requires the acumen of the market understanding. Several examples of the M2M solutions would be presented in order to help the R&D community understand how the market and technology are suited and offered as part of the turnkey solutions.
