and his staff on this important conference. It gives me great pleasure to be with all of you today to open the 4th International Conference on Convergence Information Technologies. Having you here today is an important display of how convergence information technologies are becoming one of the hottest areas of science and attracting so many researchers to pursue the innovations in this field. Korea is the first country to put the importance of convergence information technologies into its strategic development plan. In recent years, most of us witnessed the dramatic advance of Korea in ICT projects such as CDMA, DMB, WiBro. I believe that we are on the way of implementing above mentioned technologies and achieving outstanding results. On the other hand, we can see how these technological advances affected Korean economy in past decade. From 2005, Korea¡¯s economic power reaches its peak through gaining the 10th place on world¡¯s GDP rank. Also for past years, Korea is considered to be the leader in sales of CDMA handset phones, computer memory, TFT-LCD monitors and IT devices. Nowadays more than 76% of Korean population is subscribed for mobile and broadband access Internet services. It makes the IT infrastructure of Korea one of the most powerful in the world. All facts mentioned above prove that Korea is becoming the center of innovation in digital convergence. We are looking forward to huge prosperities in the field of convergence information technology, as we founded excellent industry positioning, R&D and production facilities. Today¡¯s gathering makes me glad to that point that Korea is not the only country where the convergence information technology is becoming one of the mostly researched topics. I feel unbounded pleasure for your coming here to share your knowledge and I would offer all of you my highest gratitude for contributing to the development of convergence information technology throughout the world thank you very much! |

On behalf of the organizing committee of ICCIT09 and ICIS2009, I would like to express a sincere welcome to all of you from all around the world, working hard for building the emerging trans-disciplinary area of convergence information technology. The prestigious researches and papers submitted this year, the phenomena of convergence prevails our society, leading the changes of our lives and future. ICCIT and ICIS, in this sense, is a leading conference despite its infancy. This year, for the fourth time, more than thousand research presentations were proposed and the committee, with the help of all the reviewers, put into tremendous efforts in reviewing and selecting best papers for the conference. I would like to extend sincere gratitude especially for the program committee and people involved in this rigorous process. Without their dedication, ICCIT and ICIS would not be possible. When a new field emerges, two things are deemed important. Creative ideas shedding new lights and perspectives on whatever things that we were doing at that time, and the other is the devotion of people with a strong drive and craving for ¡®pushing the envelope.¡¯ I strongly believe that all of us gathered for this conference are more than qualified as these pioneers in this area, and will continue to be a fruitful area that will benefit all of us and furthermore the society itself. Hope you meet interesting people at the conferences and can share several new ideas with researchers sharing the same goal and thoughts with you. On behalf of Program Committee, I very warmly welcome you to the beautiful and modern city of Seoul where ICCIT 2009 and ICIS2009 is to be held. The conference is being held at Seoul Olympic Parktel which is regular venue for international summits and conferences, and which is situated at Olympic Park built over the early capital area of the ancient BaekJe dynasty. |
ICCIT and ICIS serve as a forum for scholars researching in various aspects of convergence IT such as ubiquitous computing, business and information systems, human-computer interaction, bioinformatics and so forth. Nowadays many researchers are strongly interested in questing for the innovations in the field of convergence IT. We have collected more than 1700 high-quality papers and the competition for participation in this conference was very terse. However, only some of the most outstanding papers with ground-breaking originality have been accepted for publication in IEEE CS and ACM proceedings. We expect that our discussions during the conference will contribute largely to the development and spread of convergence IT around the world, because the setting of the conference a rather unique one. The high prominence of the speakers and delegates, the global character of the attendance, with more than 500 participants from more than 40 different countries, and the excellence of papers to be presented brings to this gathering a variety of experiences. I am hopeful that the floor will be as active as possible in all the sessions to enrich the discussion and to facilitate a stimulating exchange of views. We firmly support the efforts put to develop convergence IT and welcome any innovative ideas toward it. Through organizing this conference, we are preparing a fruitful soil for the realization of fresh and promising ideas for convergence IT. I look forward that during these three days we will have much opportunity to exchange our ideas and establish good social ties with each other. We sincerely hope that you will find the technical program exciting and stimulating, and that you enjoy autumnal mood at nice park holding remembrance in 1988 Olympic Game. |

Let me express my great pleasure to greet you today on joint conference ICCIT 2009 and ICIS 2009. I am honored to be among you, my fellow researchers, today to share our knowledge and experience in the field of Convergence Information Technologies. As you all know, building ubiquitous society and promoting convergence of information technologies become of a particular strategic importance for the future of Korea and it is actually an important part of Korea's strategic development plan. These international conferences have gathered scholars all around the world and they demonstrate how important the topics of convergence information technologies and interaction sciences have become nowadays. We are lucky to be at the brink of discovery of next-generation technologies for a ubiquitous computing environment. And I believe our gathering for these few days will enable researchers to share their invaluable research results and get inspired by fellow scholars to embark on new researches on new progressive ideas and thus contribute to further development of ubiquitous future. Our host this year is a beautiful Seoul - Soul of Asia. This city is where the dynamism of modern life takes place in ubiquitous and harmonious computing environment. This city is a fine example how ubiquitous technologies have already been integrated into everyday life. Ubiquitous technologies will drive the future markets worldwide. In fact, it is not future anymore, it has become the present in Seoul. And our efforts directed towards advancement in the field of convergence technologies will have a tremendous impact in our lives. I am glad to point out that your presence today signifies the fact that convergence information technology has become an important and widely researched topic around the globe. I believe this conference will equip the attendees with more knowledge and you will be able to exchange progressive ideas with your fellow researchers, which will enrich your experience.
