Workshop 1: Workshop on Intelligent Computing and Applications (WICA 2012)
Description
Since the theme of the conference is quite broad where there is every scope of including any computational paradigm, we on our part have decided to earmark a specific paradigm for this purpose - Intelligent Computing. Now, the technological flavour can be appreciated only when the real life applications of Intelligent Computing can be accommodated within our purview. By virtue of its very nature and capability to handle various uncertainties prevalent in real life, Intelligent Computing offers a formidable computational platform particularly for day to day problems most of which are characteristically involve uncertainty. The real challenge of the concerned community lies in imparting the essence of intelligence, artificially albeit, into a machine so as to expect intelligent behaviour from the duly trained machine. It is needless to mention that learning a machine in course of making it an intelligent one may require the knowledge of -
(i) Fuzzy Mathematics, Rough Set theory
(ii) Artificial Neural Network
(iii) Elements of Evolutionary computaion
but not limited to other relevant concepts which supplement the above techniques. Applications which require the use of the ingredients of these concepts encompass what we look for in this workshop.

1. Artificial Intelligence and its applications
2. Machine Learning
3. Intelligent Systems Design
4. Intelligence and simulation
5. Hybrid Intelligent System and hybrid soft computing paradigm

Invited Session 1: PSE: Computer Assisted Problem Solving Environment
Description
Problem Solving Environment (PSE) represents an active emerging scientific and technological area in Computing Science. PSEs provide innovative computational facilities for easy incorporation of novel solution methods to solve a target class of problems. Cloud/Grid environments, distributed and heterogeneous resources, uncertainty quantification support and collaborative environments are critical components of PSEs.
We had the first and second fruitful and successful PSE Sessions at ICCIT2010 and ICCIT2011. This proposal is for the 3rd PSE Session in the ICCCT2012 series.
PSE Session Co-chairs:
Shigeo Kawata, Professor, Graduate School of Eng., Utsunomiya univ., Japan
Soonwook Hwang, Dr., KISTI, Korea
Hitohide Usami, Professor, National Inst. of Informatics / Tamagawa Univ., Japan.
Mo Mu, Professor, Dept. of Mathematics, Hon Kong Univ. of Science and Technology, Hong Kong
Wu Zhang, Professor, School of Computer Science and Eng., Shanghai Univ., China
Dongsoo Han, Professor, KAIST, Korea
Paper Preparation:
papers must be prepared following the ICCIT Format and rules shown in the ICCIT homepage.
Important dates:
Paper submission date and other important dates are same as those in the ICCIT conference.
Paper Submission:
The paper submission option for the PSE Session is planned to be set on the paper submission homepage. If you can not find the submission selection option for the invited PSE Session, please send your paper(s) to S. Kawata (kwt@cc.utsunomiya-u.ac.jp).
Scope
The Cloud/Grid and related distributed systems are large and complex information systems that integrate heterogeneous computer hardware resources, application software, middleware, experimental instruments, and so on. PSEs are friendly and efficient facilities to help users work with such complicated systems.
Key issues to be addressed in this session include Scientific Computing Environment, PSE for Uncertainty quantification, PSE for Cloud/Grid Computing, PSE for collaborations, PSE for heterogeneous distributed system management, PSE for application developments, PSE for scientific computing, MPSE (Multi physics-modeling PSE), PSE for education, as well as others issues related to PSEs. There has been a lot of activity and progress in PSE research and development recently. The PSE Session will provide a forum for PSE researchers to exchange information and foster future research issues in the PSE area.
