61. 2nd International Conference on Computer, Informatics, Cybernetics and Applications (CICA2012)
2nd International Conference on Computer, Informatics, Cybernetics and Applications (CICA2012)
Description
Computer, informatics and cybernetics are experiencing a tremendous growth. As future generation information, computer, control and communication technologies become specialized and fragmented, it is easy to lose sight that many topics in these areas have common threads and, because of this, advances in one discipline may be transmitted to others. Presentation of recent results obtained in different disciplines encourages this interchange for the advancement of these topics as a whole. Of particular interest are hybrid solutions that combine ideas taken from multiple disciplines in order to achieve something more significant than the sum of the individual parts. Through such hybrid philosophy, a new principle can be discovered, which has the propensity to propagate throughout multifaceted disciplines. Therefore it is timely to set up forums for researchers and developers to discuss features and exchange ideas on all challenges and solutions for these areas.
Following the successful International Conference on Computer, Informatics, Cybernetics and Applications (CICA 2011) held on September 23-25, 2011, in Hangzhou, China, 2nd CICA 2012 will be held on December 16-18, 2012, Chongqing, China, which is organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Chongqing University, University of Washington, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Lancaster University, AutoTxt, Nanyang Technological University, Virginia Tech, and sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).

Advancement in Cloud Computing and Services Science
Description
The current networked world has created a global landscape and a mandate for a significant change. Around one billion people currently use the Internet and they will soon be joined by several billion mobile online devices. In that landscape, people and organizations have been distributing the work, service and technology anywhere in the world. A fully pervasive anytime/anywhere and secure wireless Internet infrastructure will support communication and collaboration across the world and brought many computing models.
Cloud computing is a new way of delivering computing services. The flexibility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of cloud computing provides tremendous business opportunities to customers. The related customer expectation, however, poses daunting challenges to cloud service providers, whether they are traditional data centers or fresh players in the arena. These practical challenges raise new research questions to communities that are either computer science oriented or service science oriented. Performance analysis and service management are required to be knitted together for the success of the end game. Service Science aims to facilitate the development of new theories, as well as their permeation to the practice fields.
The proposed special issue primarily aims to promote the research, development and application of cloud computing and services science by providing an insightful and effective window and a collaborative probability across a variety of disciplines. Swarm intelligence (SI) is the collective behavior of decentralized,
self-organized systems, natural or artificial. SI systems are typically made up of a population of simple agents or boids interacting locally with one another and with their environment. The inspiration often comes from nature, especially biological systems. The agents follow very simple rules, and although there is no centralized control structure dictating how individual agents should behave, local, and to a certain degree random, interactions between such agents lead to the emergence of intelligent?global behavior,
unknown to the individual agents. Natural examples of SI include ant colonies, bird flocking, animal herding, bacterial growth, and fish schooling.
Scope
artificial bee optimization, ant colony optimization, artificial fish algorithm, artificial immune system, bat algorithm, bacterial foraging
optimization, cuckoo search, firefly algorithm, intelligent water drops, magnetic optimization algorithm, and particle swarm optimization

80. Special Issue on the Cloud computing and its application
Special Issue on the Cloud computing and its application
Description
Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. This cloud model promotes availability and is composed of five essential characteristics (On-demand self-service, Broad network access, Resource pooling, Rapid elasticity, Measured Service); three service models (Cloud Software as a Service (SaaS), Cloud Platform as a Service (PaaS), Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)); and, four deployment models (Private cloud, Community cloud, Public cloud, Hybrid cloud). Key enabling technologies include: (1) fast wide-area networks, (2) powerful, inexpensive server computers, and (3) high-performance virtualization for commodity hardware.
The Cloud Computing model offers the promise of massive cost savings combined with increased IT agility. It is considered critical that government and industry begin adoption of this technology in response to difficult economic constraints. However, cloud computing technology challenges many traditional approaches to datacenter and enterprise application design and management. Cloud computing is currently being used; however, security, interoperability, and portability are cited as major barriers to broader adoption.
